Determination of Seagrass Distribution Areas in the Sea of Marmara (MAR-ÇAYIR)
Project Objective:
This project aims to contribute to the restoration of the Sea of Marmara’s ecosystem, which has been degraded by mucilage, as well as to the sustainable management of seagrass areas that play a vital ecological role in the Mediterranean.
Project Duration:
1 (one) year
Main Activities of the Project:
1.Identifying the distribution of seagrass.
2.Assessing terrestrial pressures at research stations.
3.Determining the phenological characteristics of seagrass.
4.Identifying epiphytic species on seagrass.
5.Developing conservation strategies.
6.Conducting pilot restoration (transplantation) studies.
7.Creating Geographic Information System (GIS)-based maps.
